It is with deep sorrow that AOPA Bulgaria members parted ways with its honorary member, pilot and friend. In a tragic accident in the area of Lesnovo Airport on March 8, we lost Georgi Vlaykov, who was one of the most experienced instructor who trained many of the personnel in today's Bulgarian aviation. Georgi held the position of Director Flight Operations at the Varna Aviation Detachment, a training center based at Lesnovo Airport. This was the only training center certified to conduct courses in aerobatic aviation with instructor Georgi Vlaikov and the Extra 200 aircraft, which, unfortunately, was the last aircraft piloted by Georgi.
